Last Fall, we learned that Battle Creek natives Rick and Jennifer Powell became the new owners of “The Rink”.   Battle Creek’s place to ice skate, downtown across from the post office needed a little TLC.   It looks like it’s getting it.

Jennifer Powell was a guest on WBCK on Wednesday morning with Tim Collins.    She said they've replaced all the rental skates, and have a wide selection of both hockey and figure skates that you can rent for just a dollar.   Open skating is just five dollars, and there are lots of times skate.  See the schedule below in our photo gallery.

Powell says the ice making equipment is all new, and that they haven't had a single problem with making good ice since taking over last Fall and getting the old system replaced.

The Rink BC has a great conference room, called the Wolves Den.   It's clean, warm, and the perfect place for a meeting or birthday party.

Powell said they've had work done on the roof, had the eaves replaced, and have done a lot of painting and cleaning inside and out.

The Rink BC has lessons on Thursday evenings and Saturday mornings.

Powell says hockey is still a big focus, but that they're really trying to serve all types of skaters and families.
