THREE RIVERS, Mich. (AP) — A 46-year-old southwestern Michigan man has been charged with multiple counts of sexual abuse at a home-based day care.

Michigan Attorney General Bill Schuette said Tuesday that Cary Jones of Three Rivers faces nine counts of first- or second-degree criminal sexual conduct against children. He's scheduled to be arraigned Tuesday afternoon in St. Joseph County district court.

Jones is jailed and there's no defense attorney listed for him.

Authorities in January shut down the day care center based in the home where Jones lived.

The attorney general says in a statement that Jones was at the home much of the time that children were being supervised by a day care worker.

Schuette says Jones provided transportation from school to the day care and sometimes was alone with the children.
