If plastic bags were currency, I'd be a very wealthy woman.  They're under my sink, in a kitchen drawer, in a bin by the cat's box.  Don't get me wrong, I bring my reusable bags with me every trip to the store, but between bags for produce, and bags to wrap meat, and bags to keep chemicals separate from food... sheesh... they really do start to stack up.

Teens in Three Rivers are asking for plastic bag donations for their project "Mile of Mats"; making sleeping mats for the homeless.  And they have a long way to go.

According to an article, each mat uses between 500 and 700 grocery bags.  Their goal?  880 of them.  That's a tall order.

So if you have plastic bags laying around the house, or crochet hooks kicking around your junk drawer, consider donating them for a wonderful cause, and help the National Honors Society at Three Rivers meet their goal.
