On Sunday, January 27, 2019 at 3:21 am, Battle Creek Police Officers heard several gunshots in the area of S. Kendall St and W. Dickman Rd.  While checking the area, a car was found at that intersection with several bullet holes and an unresponsive man in the driver's seat whom had been shot.

Another man was found by officers running a short distance from the car, and he had also been shot. Two additional men were found near the scene on S. Kendall St, one with a gunshot wound.  These two men had non-life threatening injuries and were transported to area hospitals for treatment.  The fourth man was uninjured. All four were together in the car when the shooting happened.

The driver of the car, identified as 23 year old Wendell C. Daniels of Battle Creek, was taken by ambulance to Bronson Battle Creek where he was later pronounced dead by doctors.  Names of the other men are not being released.

A motive is not yet known, investigators are still tracking down witnesses and no one has been arrested yet.  No further information is being released at this time.
