Alan Trammell, Lou Whitaker and Jack Morris  all had Hall Of Fame worthy careers.  None of them ever were voted in by the writers,  but they could could be considered on a vote in December.

According to the story from The Detroit News,  the three players  that  fell off the eligibility list could be voted in by the Modern Baseball Ballot.

The new vote, which replaces the veterans committee, features four eras of the game, Early, Golden, Modern and Today's Game.  Each era will have a committee who will vote.    Modern committee will vote twice every five years.   The others will vote once every five years.

The vote for the Modern Era will be decided and announced during the winter meetings in December.  A player needs 12 votes of the 16 member committee to be elected.

If the trio misses out, they will have to wait until 2019 for the next vote.
