Six weeks into the baseball season, and the Tigers are still even at 18-18 after a four-game split with the Angels.  The Tigers lost 4-1 on Sunday in Anaheim. Alex Meyer, a pitcher who has struggled a lot, held the Tigers to just three hits into the seventh inning.   Mike Trout homered in his third straight game.

Justin Verlander gave up four runs in six innings to take the loss, and is now 3-3. seven strikeouts, Verlander passed Tommy John and pulled even with Eddie Plank for 53rd place in baseball history.

The Tigers still haven't won a series in Anaheim in eight tries since 2009.

The Tigers got through a long west coast trip and they’re still just a couple of games out of first place.   They have six games at home this week, and they have right fielder J.D. Martinez back in the lineup for the first time this season.  He had five hits and two home runs in his first three games back!   The Tigers new closer, Justin Wilson, has a microscopic 1.15 earned run average for the season.  Ian Kinsler is back, so the Tigers are at full strength for the first time this season.

The Tigers are off Monday, and start a three game series in Detroit against Baltimore.  Matt Boyd starts against the Birds on Tuesday.
