The Tigers split a four game series against the Kansas City Royals, losing to them Thursday evening, 16-4.

Kansas City broke out in the 1st inning with 4 runs off from Tiger’s pitcher, Michael Fulmer. They added four more in the 3rd inning making it an 8-0 game.

It wasn’t until the 5th inning that Detroit would score any runs. Victor Martinez, Andrew Romine and Jose Iglesias scored off from the Royal’s Danny Duffy.

Merrifield homered to left field, in the bottom of the 6th, scoring a run off Chad Bell. Bonifacio, Cain and Hosmer also crossed the plate, making it 12-4 at the end of the 6th.

Kansas City continued the romp with four more runs in the 8th. Detroit had nothing left in them to respond and lost the game 16-4.

Detroit begins a three game series against the Minnesota Twins, Friday evening. Coverage begins at 7:45 PM on 95.3 WBCK.
