Tigers Lose 7-1, Drop Series To Sox
The Tigers fell to the White Sox, 7-1. Sunday afternoon’s match-up looked like a pitcher’s duel. With the exception of a single inning for Matt Boyd, that remained true. Boyd was tagged for five runs in the bottom of the 3rd as the Sox sent eight men to the plate. Boyd dug in, and held off Chicago in the 4th, 5th and 6th. In six innings of pitching, he gave up five runs on seven hits, with one walk and seven strikeouts.
Tiger batters were kept in check for most of Sunday’s game. The Tigers loaded the bases in the 7th and Jose Iglesias almost made the game interesting. However, his hooking grand slam bid went just foul. Sox starting pitcher, Lucas Giolito finally left the game after seven strong innings. Ian Kinsler hit a homerun to left to put the Tigers on the board.
White Sox batters had their way again in the bottom of the 8th. The Sox would send seven men to the plate and score two off of three singles, a walk, a sac fly and a wild pitch. The Tigers trailed 7-1, and that’s how the score would stay.
