The Detroit Tigers lost to the Houston Astros, 7-6, in the last game of the four game series, Thursday evening, in Houston.

The Tigers scored first, in the 2nd inning, when Justin Upton singled to right field bringing J.D. Martinez home and the Tigers led 1-0.

J.D. Martinez homered to center in the 4th, and Alex Avila scored on a double by Jose Iglesias staking Justin Verlander to a  3-0 lead. But the  Astros responded with five runs including three homers off Verlander to make it 5-3 Houston.

Detroit tightened the Astros lead to 5-4 when Upton singled to right-field bringing Miguel Cabrera home in the top of the 5th inning. But Houston countered with a sixth run in their half of the inning.

A Justin Upton homer made it 6-5 and the Tigers tied it at 6 in the 8th when Jose Iglesias doubled to left-field scoring Andrew Romine.   But Alex Wilson gave up a homer to Jake Marisnick and Houston won it 7-6.

The Tigers begin a four game series against the Chicago White Sox with a double-header Friday afternoon. Coverage begins at 4:45 PM on 95.3 WBCK
