It was all Cleveland, Monday night. The Tigers were handled right from the start, and lost to the Tribe, 11-0. The Cleveland Indians didn’t take long to pull out ahead of the Tigers, as they continue to chase a record setting win-streak. Tiger starter Myles Jaye started the second by giving up a walk and a single. Another single put the Indians on the board. A bunt, a triple and a sac fly later, and suddenly the Indians were up 5-0.

Cleveland added two more runs in the 4th on a two run, home run and another two in the bottom of the 6th. Tiger batters were kept off the bases for most of the game. The largest threat mounted by Detroit was in the 4th, with two singles from Candelario and Collins. The Tigers were otherwise limited to one base runner or none, for the rest of the game and put up nothing on the scoreboard. Adding insult to injury, the Indians were able to score two more in the 8th, off of two singles, a walk, a wild pitch and a sac-fly, to reach our final score 11-0.

A glance at the box score may not seem as lop-sided as the score would suggest. The Indians only outhit the Tigers, 11-9. However, the Tribe was able to capitalize on walks, extra base hits, and two Tiger errors. Jaye gets credit for just 3 and two thirds innings of pitching, in which he gave up seven earned runs on seven hits, with two walks and two strikeouts.

With the loss, the Tigers losing streak reaches three. They’ll look to turn things around on Tuesday, and keep the Indians away from that Major League record, 21 wins. They’re just two games away. Projected starters, Tuesday night are Matt Boyd(5-9  5.93 ERA) and Cleveland’s Corey Kluber(15-4  2.56 ERA). Our coverage begins at 6:45, on 95.3 WBCK.
