The Tigers beat Florida Southern 8-0 at Joker Marchant Stadium.  It was a dress rehearsal for Publix Field at Joker Marchant Stadium with their annual exhibition against their neighbors at the local College.  James McCann drove in the first two Tiger runs.  Two players fighting to stay with the Tigers’ organization, Dixon Machado and Stephen Moya had hits, as did Omar Infante, back with his old team.  Seven pitchers blanked the college team on five hits.

Today is the official Grapefruit League opener with the Orioles at Lakeland.  Michael Fulmer will start for the Tigers.  The game will start at 1:30pm, and the Tigers will hold a pregame ceremony, which is expected to include a remembrance of owner Mike Ilitch, who passed away earlier this month.  The team is also expected to unveil a patch that players and coaches will wear on their jerseys to honor him.

WBCK will listen in on the broadcast during breaks in the Rush Limbaugh Show.   We did get an e-mail from the Tigers’ network saying that today’s game might not make it to the airwaves.   Crews are working furiously to complete new renovations at Joker-Marchant Stadium, and the network might not be able to get on the air as a result.  We won’t know until up until game time.
