The Cleveland Indians completed an easy, four-game sweep, Sunday afternoon, as the Tigers lost, 8-1. Relief pitcher Chad Bell came on to start for the Tigers, and Indian batters had their way with him. The Indians put up runs in each of the game’s first three innings, including one in the 1st, two in the 2nd and another run in the 3rd. The Tigers would answer with a run of their own, in the 2nd, off of three singles, but the Indians were just getting started.

Bell began the 5th, giving up a single, a double and a walk, to load the bases for Cleveland. Reininger came on to relieve Bell, and managed to limit the Indians damage to just one run. The Tigers trailed 5-1. However, in the very next inning, the Indians would open this game wide open with a pair of homeruns, scoring three.

Tiger batters were kept quiet on Sunday and were limited to one hit or none, in every inning except the 2nd. Cleveland would send eight men to the plate in the 8th, and tack on two more. They would add yet another run in the 9th for the 11-1 lead. And that’s how the score would remain.

In four innings of credited pitching, Bell gave up five earned runs on eight hits with two walks and one strikeout. Relief pitching wasn’t much better for the Tigers. The Indians managed to push across five more, on just as many Tiger relievers. Cleveland outhit the Tigers sixteen to eight. James McCann was the only Tiger with multiple hits. He went two for three, with two singles.

With the loss, the Tigers fall to 58-78. On Monday afternoon, they’ll open up a three game home-stand with Kansas City. Artie Lewicki will get the start for the Tigers and face off against Royals’ starter Jake Junis(6-2  4.41 ERA).Our coverage begins at 12:45, on 95.3 WBCK.
