Police say five railroad freight cars derailed in Battle Creek last night after someone threw a switch in a rail yard.  It happened at the Hinman rail yard on Porter Street near the Kellogg Company lot.  Officials say no hazardous materials were in the cars at the time.  Damage is estimated at $100-thousand dollars.  Railroad workers told police that they saw a white male run from the scene to his truck after the cars derailed.  The truck is described as a red full size pickup towing a utility trailer with mowers and lawn equipment.
