A section of I-94 in Calhoun County’s Marengo Township was closed down last night after a semi-truck full of cucumbers tipped over.

The Calhoun County Sheriff’s Office says that it appears the semi truck carrying around 43,000 pounds of cucumbers failed to negotiate a curve at I-94 and Partello Rd. near Marshall around 10:40pm Wednesday, causing it to tip into the intersection. Initial investigation shows that the truck was travelling with excessive speed and failed to stop at a stop sign, leading to the crash.

The driver, a 47-year-old North Carolina man, wasn’t hurt, but he was cited for several traffic violations. The stretch of road was shut down for around 8 hours so the scene could be cleaned up.
