After several Tigers fans commented, and most of them not polite, he sent out a second message that said "Guess I ruffled some feathers with my last tweet about download [sic] Detroit! Guess all you that responded haven't seen how ugly your downtown is".

Michigan Governor Rick Snyder sent his own tweet to Blyleven which said "I think our view of downtown Detroit looks just great."  Along with the message, Snyder sent a picture of Anibal Sanchez and Ian Kinsler holding the 2014 AL Central Division Champions banner.

Blyleven later deleted the messages and tweeted "I apologize for my comments: the city of Detroit. It is an exciting time here led by the Illitch family."
