Twins Make Tigers Fumigate Their Locker Room

The Minnesota Twins asked the Detroit Tigers to disinfect the visitor’s locker room at Comerica Park. Too bad it didn’t stop the Twins from stinking on the field.

It was a reasonable request, really. The Boston Red Sox have been plagued by the flu bug since their season opened, and since they were sneezing and scratching themselves all over the visitor’s locker room while losing three of four games at Comerica Park last weekend, the Twins felt there was a chance they would catch the bug.

So the Tigers disinfected and fumigated the place before the Twins arrived Tuesday for three game series. The Twins are off to a hot start at 5-1, and didn’t want influenza to harsh their mellow.

It didn’t. But Tigers pitcher Matt Boyd did, shutting them down for six innings, and then James McCann cranked a two run homer to give the Tigers a 2-1 win Tuesday afternoon.

The news of the Twins’ demand that the Tigers fumigate the visitor clubhouse at Comerica comes on the heels of the Red Sox doing the exact same thing in the home clubhouse at Fenway Park.

By the way, some teams have the flu, but don’t whine about it. So take THAT Red Sox Nation.
