A man and his girlfriend are awaiting extradition back to Michigan, after authorities say they assaulted the man’s mother.

The incident happened late Monday night, at the 66-year-old woman’s home in Barry County’s Assyria Township.  Investigators say that 27-year-old Cory Wagner and 21-year-old Tiffany Chanthavong entered the home and assaulted the woman, before binding her to a chair with duct tape and locking her in a bathroom.  The pair then allegedly stole the victim’s car and credit cards.

Several hours later, the victim managed to break free and contact police, and the suspects were found using a stolen credit card in Rockford, Illinois.  The pair was arrested Tuesday morning and have an extradition hearing scheduled for Wednesday afternoon, with possible charges including assault with intent to murder.

Cory Wagner has a history of domestic violence, and is currently facing charges of assault in Ottawa County.
