Two Kalamazoo Public Safety officers were injured, early Sunday morning, while they were investigating two vehicle crashes in the 600 Block of South Howard Street.

Due to icy conditions, there were two accidents at the same scene. The officers were in the process of investigating the crashes, when a third crash occurred and they were struck by the vehicles.

Both officers were transported to Bronson Hospital. One officer sustained a head injury and is listed in stable condition. The second officer sustained injuries to his back and was treated and released.

The at-fault driver that struck the officers was found to be intoxicated and arrested for operating a motor vehicle while intoxicated and driving on as expired license. The 22-year-old Kalamazoo resident was lodged at the Kalamazoo County Jail.
