"I live here, it's personal for me," Chris Sargent said about his work at the United Way of the Battle Creek and Kalamazoo Region.

Sargent, the former CEO of the United Way of Greater Battle Creek before its merger with the Kalamazoo entity, was named the CEO of the combined organization in June, 2017. Michael Larson had been in the role since the merger.

Sargent lives in Battle Creek and was named interim CEO when Larson left, then was chosen from a field of candidates to lead the organization indefinitely.

He spoke with 95.3 WBCK for the first time recently since having been named to the post. Click the player to hear him talk about his passion for the United Way mission, and how it's changed since the merger.
