Victim Identified In Sunday Shooting in Battle Creek

The Battle Creek Police have identified the victim in the shooting death that occurred yesterday afternoon.

Authorities responded to a home on the first block of Highway Street around 1:30pm Sunday, called there on reports of a shooting.  24-year-old Kayla Babick was found dead at the scene, from a single gunshot wound to the side.  Her 25-year-old boyfriend was in the room at the time of the shooting, but no arrests have been made.

The boyfriend is said to be cooperative.  Detective at this time are investigating, and looking into the possibility that this was an accidental shooting.
