The City of Battle Creek is set to receive a large grant to help spur economic development.

According to the Battle Creek City Commission’s Agenda for Tuesday, July 18, the City has received a grant from the W.K. Kellogg Foundation, equaling to almost $1.5 million over three years. The city says that the money will be used to expand programs for community development planning, resource mapping, work plan technical assistance and much more, with the goal of providing greater support to entrepreneurialism and small business.

City Manager Rebecca Fleury in a resolution set to be discussed by the City Commission also says the grant would help the city work together with Battle Creek Unlimited to accomplish these goals. The resolution up for discussion Tuesday would authorize the City Manager to go forward with the Grant Agreement with the WKKF.
