With highs Wednesday expected near the freezing mark, the National Weather Service forecast for Battle Creek and southwest Michigan warns of a potential wintry mix, especially before early afternoon.

While the Great Lakes has been outside the track of recent storms that have affected New York and New England, the Midwest won't escape an arctic blast expected this weekend. Lows Saturday night are expected to be well below zero, with highs Sunday only a few degrees above zero.
