The National Weather Service forecast for Battle Creek suggests the weekend will start out bright and sunny, then cloud over and snow for the second half.

A sizable storm passing mostly to the south is expected to clip Michigan starting Saturday evening, leaving areas of lower Michigan with a few inches. The NWS says about an inch will glaze roads and sidewalks Saturday night, with another couple of inches on Sunday.

Other forecasters are suggesting the storm could leave as much as 8 inches by Sunday evening, suggesting a more northerly track for the storm.

Temperatures will not be as arctic, with a high Sunday near the freezing mark.
