It will be one more year for Western Michigan University’s president.

The announcement came Monday from Western president John Dunn, who stated that he will retire at the end of the school year after serving as president for the last decade.

Dunn came to Western in 2007 following stops at Southern Illinois University, the University of Utah and Oregon State University. Western’s Board of Trustees will have a presidential search advisory committee in place immediately.

Dunn was instrumental in bringing the new Homer Stryker M.D. School of Medicine and WMU Cooley Law School to the university. His contract at Western ends on June 30, 2017.
