My dogs are named Mugsie, Ellie, and Scruffy.   None of those were on the list.

According to the Calhoun County Treasurer’s Office, it's "Buddy."   The Treasurer's office  operates Calhoun County’s dog licensing program, so they ought to know.

“Buddy” is the most popular name, while “Sadie” is the second-most popular name followed by “Max.”

What's the most popular breed?   Pit Bull, followed by  Labrador and then German Shepherd.

The number of dog licenses sold in Calhoun County has increased, too. In 2015, the treasurer’s office received 2,357 applications for dog licenses. As of June 1, 2,436 people applied for licenses.

“We’re glad to see more and more people getting their dogs licensed in Calhoun County,” said Calhoun County Treasurer Brian Wensauer. “Licensing your pet ensures its safety if your dog ever wanders from home.”

The Calhoun County Treasurer’s office recently launched a program to encourage more residents to get their dogs licensed. A 4-foot cutout of a dog named Lilly – coincidentally the seventh-most popular dog name in Calhoun County – encourages county residents to ensure their dog is #LicensedLikeLilly.
