Where Do Our Navy Medics Train For Their Combat ‘Tour of Duty’
You are not going to believe where our military sends our Navy hospital Corpsman in training, to prepare to be deployed as battlefield medics.
According to reporting by the Wall Street Journal, they send these Navy Corpsman to be trained in battlefield conditions to the City of Chicago. Yes our Navy Corpsman in training must do a “Tour of Duty” in the City of Chicago.
Why the City of Chicago, because the Navy believes it is among the few places here in the United States that would provide actual experience in treating the types of wounds they will actually be confronted with on the battlefields of our enemies.

Captain Paul Roach, the United States Navy surgeon who leads the program in the Great Lakes region was quoted in the article stating that for so long:
the first time a corpsman got any trauma experience was when they were deployed, and some would just freeze up…we don’t want that to happen anymore.
