As Battle Creek Public Schools officials grapple with declining enrollment and, potentially, closing school buildings, we are trying to understand why it happens.

Coming up at 8:08am Tuesday on The Richard Piet Show, we'll talk with Dr. Ron Zimmer, Associate Professor of Public Policy and Education at Vanderbilt University (and former staff member at Michigan State University). Zimmer has participated and published a number of articles on the issue, as well as having been a source for media interviews on the matter.

We'll discuss what causes this, what the extremes are and what potential solutions exist when a district is bleeding enrollment.

Hear The Richard Piet Show weekday mornings from 5:30-9 on WBCK.
