Meet Sugar Bear, this week's Wiggly Tail Wednesday pet of the week from the Humane Society of South Central Michigan.

Sugar Bear represents a rare transfer to the Humane Society in Battle Creek from a distant shelter. The Dachshund mix with brownish-red coloring actually came from Louisiana, where officials say the spay/neuter rate is much lower than in Michigan. That's led to an abundance of adoptable shelter animals, like Sugar Bear.

They tell us Sugar Bear won't be long on the adoptable list, since she's a lovable and friendly dog who likes to run and play as well as cuddle and be loved.

She is likely to get along with other dogs or cats and older children. Of course, the Humane Society can help you with pet matching if you already have a pet in the home.
