A Battle Creek man has been arraigned on multiple felony charges after police say he kidnapped and sexually assaulted a woman over the weekend.

The Battle Creek Enquirer says that allegedly last Thursday, a 65-year-old man forced the 34-year-old victim into his car at an area grocery store, and took her back to his home. The two had apparently been in a relationship, but the Springfield woman had left earlier in the week due to his behavior.

While being held captive by the man, the victim was reportedly sexually assaulted at least three times, and on Friday night the suspect took the victim to a truck stop and attempted to force her into prostitution. The woman refused, and while the pair was returning home she managed to flee and call 911 late Friday night.

On Monday, the suspect was arraigned on three counts of first-degree criminal sexual conduct and three counts of kidnapping, with bond set at $150,000.
