Details relating to a fatal car crash in Battle Creek have been released by the Battle Creek Police Department.

Authorities received a report of a traffic crash involving two vehicles, at approximately 9:00 PM Thursday evening, at the intersection of East Columbia Avenue and Riverside Drive. Battle Creek Police, Battle Creek Fire Department and LifeCare Ambulance were dispatched to the scene.

An investigation reveals that an eastbound vehicle, traveling on Columbia Avenue, struck a vehicle attempting to turn west onto Columbia Avenue from northbound Riverside Drive. The vehicle was struck while turning, injuring a 41-year-old male and killing a 56-year-old female. The man was airlifted to Bronson Kalamazoo, in critical condition, and the woman was pronounced dead at the scene. The driver of the other vehicle, a 32-year-old woman, had no visible injuries.

The accident is still under investigation and alcohol appears to be a factor. Names of both drivers and passenger have not yet been released.
