It's sad news to report that 13 dogs have died in a kennel fire in West Michigan. The fire was reported early Monday in Allendale Township.

There is some good news which is hard to believe when you hear about 13 dogs that died in a fire. According to ABC12, more than two dozen other dogs were rescued in the fire which took place at Whispering Oaks Farm Kennel.

Apparently, a garage that was being used as a kennel caught fire and unfortunately, there wasn't a hydrant nearby so crews from several fire departments shuttled water to the burning kennel.

It's unclear at the moment as to the cause of today's fire but it's still under investigation.

It's so sad to think that 13 Michigan families no longer have a dog to come home to.
