86th Battle Creek Day Picnic is Today!
Hundreds of Battle Creek area snowbirds have long since flown the coop for the winter, and many of them will be getting together in February for the 86th annual Battle Creek Day Picnic in Lakeland Florida.
Since 1931, it’s been a chance for past and present Battle Creek area residents to get together for a visit, and enjoy the warm Florida sunshine.
Attendance for the event ranges from anywhere from 100 to 800.
The gathering, always the third Thursday in February, will be on the 16th this year, at the Knights of Columbus Hall in Lakeland. Registration starts at 10am, with a $5 fee to cover costs and prizes. Lunch is at noon. Bring a dish to pass and your own table service and drinks. Coffee is provided.
We got a note from Col. (ret) Frank Walker, USAF/ANG, who said there will be
Lots of fun, door prizes, 50/50 drawings, Battle Creek trivia and an opportunity to mingle with old colleagues and friends from the Battle Creek area!
The hall is located just past Joker Marchant Stadium on the right (West) side of the street.
