Tigers Come Back but Lose to Arizona, 7-6
The Tiger’s night began with a strange but rough outing for Buck Farmer. Farmer gave up two runs on five hits in the 1st. He struck out the side in the second. In the third, he allowed two home runs, scoring four. The Diamondbacks lead was 6-0, and Chad Bell came on to relieve Farmer and end the inning.
The score would stay that way through six innings when the Tigers scored six runs to tie it up. A couple of miscues by the D-Backs, and a J.D. Martinez two-run homer and a string of singles tied it up and chased Diamondbacks starting pitcher Zack Greinke.
The 8th inning was looking like trouble for Tiger reliever Alex Wilson, after he loaded the bases, with no outs. Wilson would hold on to end the inning with a ground ball double play, and a fly out. Closer Justin Wilson wasn’t so lucky in the 9th. A lead-off home run from David Peralta would give Arizona back the lead. Tiger hitters went quietly in the bottom of the 9th.
The Tigers lost 7-6.
