The City of Albion will be holding a special meeting August 1st to review potential candidates for their open City Manager role.

In a letter to City Council members from the Michigan Municipal League dated July 17th, who was hired to assist in the search, they stated that 20 applicants expressed their consideration for employment with the City of Albion. The deadline for application was July 12th.

The special meeting will allow the Council to review the candidates in closed session, due to all applicants requesting confidentiality in accordance with state law. The Council would then take the opportunity to consider setting a date for the first interview with potential candidates.

While a majority of the meeting may take place in closed session, the announcement of potential finalists will take place in open session, with public comment allowed after the City Council confirms a potential date and time for meetings with potential candidates.

The meeting on August 1st will begin at 6pm at City Hall. The meeting agenda can be found here.

Albion Police Chief Scott Kipp has been the interim City Manager since March, after former manager LaTonya Rufus resigned after five months on the job amid an embezzlement investigation.
