The Battle Creek Public Schools is working to improve the access to a wide variety of educational options for students, and one of the ways they are doing that is seeing their application window close.

Fremont International Academy is set to open with the 2019-2020 school year, and will initially offer up education for students entering pre-K through second grade; as the classes make their way up, Fremont will eventually offer one more class per year until they have pre-K through fifth grade by 2022.

Brandon Phenix is the principal of Fremont International Academy, and appeared on the 95.3 WBCK Morning Show with Nico Berrios on March 27. During the discussion, Brandon let us know what exactly the district means when they say Fremont is a "magnet" and "international baccalaureate" school; in short, the school will be designed to give students an "international" perspective, and will allow students to see how various classes they take are connected.

One neat feature of Fremont will be the language learning opportunity; students will have Spanish learning integrated into the curriculum. For further details on what the experience at Fremont in Battle Creek will be like, see the video above.

Space is limited for students, so those interested in applying need to do so by April 5. You can apply online by going to the BCPS website here.
