Battle Creek City Commission To Approve M-66 Lane Reductions In 2018
The Battle Creek City Commission is on track to agree with an M-DOT plan to change a portion of M-66 in from a four-lane to a three-lane road.
A resolution included in the consent agenda for their August 15 meeting would show the City’s support for the transition, which would begin construction in 2018. M-DOT is planning a $1.6 million renovation of M-66, that is, Capital Ave, between Division St. and Frey Dr in Battle Creek, which not only will include milling and paving, but a reduction in lanes.
After the work is done, M-66 will be a single lane in either direction, with a center left-turn lane and bicycle lanes in either direction.
An open house on this issue was held for city residents in May.
