Battle Creek Humane Society’s Howl-O-Ween 2016 Is A Success
Each year, the Humane Society of South Central Michigan invites a crowd of very patient dogs and their families to compete in a pet costume contest. This year, more participated than last year - and they were all creative and well received!
The winner, a Bulldog pumpkin named Dixie, stole the show - mostly because she was so agreeable. She did, though, have just enough tolerance for the whole affair to parade around once, then plopped down in the middle of the parking lot to take the whole scene in.
In second place was a very sweet (if not shy!) Maltese named Rosie. No, that's not a ballerina outfit she's wearing. She's actually a loufah! Great idea!
In third place was an alligator! Okay, really a Bassett Hound dressed as an alligator.
Humane Society staff also participated in a costume contest. The winner, quite honestly, was pretty creative! HSSCM staff member April Fletcher and her daughter Alivia pulled off the "Cat Who Made The Mess" costume. Check it out!
Alivia seems a little camera shy, doesn't she (oh, and don't worry - what's in the "litter pan" is actually a prop!)?
Howl-O-Ween is a fundraiser for the Humane Society, complete with pet and staff consumes (some pet families were in costume, too) and trick or treating. Happy Halloween!
