Salvation Army volunteers have already started the annual Red Kettle campaign in Michigan. Starting dates for the community fund raising vary depending on location. This year, the campaign is going high tech. The Salvation Army is now offering what it calls “Kettle Pay”.You can scan a QR code with your smartphone at the kettle locations and donate through an Apple Pay account, or hover over a Google Pay symbol to use that account for a donation.

Salvation Army leaders say this has been in the works for a while. They’ve been following technology and how they can make it easier for donors to help their nationwide Christmas campaign. If you are not equipped to use the Kettle Pay service, the Salvation Army will always welcome donations of cash like before. The Salvation Army is also looking for more volunteers to help with the 2019 Red Kettle campaign.
