Omni Community Credit Union has once again teamed with the Food Bank of South Central Michigan for its annual Shred Day and Food Drive event meant to help reduce the incidence of identity theft - and help stock Food Bank shelves.

New this year is also an electronics-recycling concern who will be on hand to collect household electronics for safe recycling. Old, unwanted computers will be accepted for recycling, giving consumers a chance to dispose of potentially sensitive information stored on unwanted hard drives.

The event is limited to two boxes of paper to be shredded. Omni Community Credit Union only asks that consumers bring two non-perishable food items or a monetary donation for the Food Bank.

Parents are invited to bring their children in Halloween costumes. The first 25 children to arrive will receive a free pumpkin and passes to the Binder Park Zoo ZooBoo event. Sweetwater's will provide free donuts.

The event is a partnership between Omni Community Credit Union, Food Bank of South Central Michigan, Denso, Franklin, TreeHouse Private Brands and Townsquare Media.
