Battle Creek Woman To Be Charged For Shooting Two Family Members
A woman is awaiting charges following an arrested over the weekend related to a double shooting in Battle Creek. Police said the female suspect and the two men who were shot were related and that the incident happened during a party at a residence on East Goguac Street Friday evening. One victim was shot in the neck and the other in the hand. Both victims were hospitalized and last reported in stable condition.
The Battle Creek Enquirer reports that police arrested the 50-year-old woman at the scene. She told police she was the daughter of the 75-year-old male victim and the half-sister of the 35-year-old male victim. She said she accidentally shot her father and that she shot her half-brother believing he was about to pull a gun and point it at her. She did, however, admit she had shown up at the party because she was upset about a family situation.
Police said they are seeking three counts of assault with intent to murder.
