Battle Creek’s McCamly Plaza Hotel is closed
Battle Creek’s McCamly Plaza Hotel is closed. The hotel closed to the general public overnight. Save for a banquet earlier scheduled for tomorrow, the hotel won’t be reopening until the summer, maybe June or July. The uncertainty on the reopening date is due to the renovation work that needs to be completed and that’s always hard to nail down.
The hotel needs a long list of renovations completed before it can transition to becoming a Doubletree by Hilton property. Owners decided it would be easier with no guests to work around.
Nearly all of the 65 employees of the hotel recently got notices about their pending terminations.
The 14 story hotel is located on the immediate south side of Battle Creek's downtown business district. It is less than a mile from I-94, and is connected to the Kellogg Arena.
The hotel is across the street from Full Blast Waterpark, and is about a 5-minute walk from Battle Creek Amtrak Station.
