Battle Creek's SAFE Place has been a lifeline for victims of domestic violence for 35 years.  Sadly, the problem hasn't gone away, and probably hasn't diminished.  But Battle Creek and Calhoun County are fortunate to have a strong organization to help.

SAFE Place has about 48 beds, and can jam in more cots for the kids if needed.  But the shelter, which is usually full, offers much more than just shelter.

I learned a lot, as I spoke with SAFE Place Executive Director Jessica Edel Harrelson and Program Director and Legal Advocate Melissa Smith on the WBCK Morning Show.  Check out the video if you'd like to know more.

We talked about the many services available to help.  How to spot abusers and those who may need help, and how to best help them.
