Tara Hampton owns two gyms in downtown Battle Creek, and initially thought she might like to buy a building downtown and actually own the space where her business functions. Eventually, though, with the help of Battle Creek Unlimited, she realized she might actually provide assistance to others by becoming a landlord - and offering space for other businesses who might not be able to afford a building, but could afford to be in business.

The idea has worked out. Renovations have begun, and are slated to be finished by spring, 2015.

On October 28, BCU announced a renovation of the building it once owned - now owned by Hampton, and being renovated for new retail and office space in the heart of downtown Battle Creek.
