An abandoned home in Battle Creek caught fire early Wednesday morning.

The Battle Creek Fire Department was called to the first block of Seivour Ave. around 3am Wednesday, to find heavy flames coming from the rear of the home. Crews began to fight the fire, but it quickly spread to the attic of the house.

A rescue crew began to search the home, but they realized it was vacant, and extra firefighters were called in to put out the blaze; no one was injured at the scene. A financial estimation of the damage done wasn't given by authorities.

The cause of this fire remains unknown, but the BCFD says that the Battle Creek Police Department has been called in to investigate.
