Battle Creek Police believe a fiery one-car crash near Meachem and Battle Creek Avenues Tuesday, June 13, 2017 was intentional.

In a press release, BCPD reports arriving on the scene at about 7:50 a.m. to find the vehicle fully engulfed. One occupant was found in the vehicle and was pronounced dead at the scene.

Prelminary accident reconstruction suggests the vehicle was traveling very fast - at least 75 mph - at impact, "likely significantly faster," according to the release. Police have not identified the occupant publicly, but believe him to be a 27-year-old Battle Creek man.

Investigators expect a final identification after a review by WMed Medical Examiners.
