Berrien County Inmate Found Hanging In His Cell

Berrien County authorities are looking into a death that occurred on their property over the weekend.

Around 10pm Saturday, employees at the Berrien County Jail discovered an inmate hanging in his cell.  Staff attempted to resuscitate the man, but he was pronounced dead at the hospital.

The inmate, identified as 24-year-old Martell Hadley, was recently sentenced to prison for Fleeing and Eluding charges.

An autopsy is scheduled to take place in Grand Rapids today.
