Battle Creek city parks and recreation officials are confident they have ideas that can help turn around a potential ballooning deficit at the Binder Park Golf Course. At issue is bonds, the payments for which are increasing year-over-year, and cannot be refinanced until 2019. That's the word from Ron Osborne, general manager of the course.

Outgoing director of parks and recreation in Battle Creek, Jeff Hovarter, tells WBCK he is confident some short-term plans to increase revenue will help. However, he says, calls to sell the course for development purposes are unfounded - and a sale is not possible.
