Bombers Earn Series Split, Host The Growlers Tonight
After falling in 13 innings Tuesday night, the Battle Creek Bombers looked to get a series split at home with the Lakeshore Chinooks Wednesday.
The Bomb Squad only had six hits, but patience at the plate earned 11 walks in a 5-3 victory over Lakeshore. The Bombers would take the lead in the fourth inning after trailing 3-2 after the first. Outfielder Nick Walker (Austin Peay) drove in two runs on the night. Logan Kaletha (John A. Logan) had two hits and scored three times from the lead-off spot.
Andrew Click (Davenport) allowed all three runs in five innings of work to get the win on the mound. Jake Hawken (Portland) made it a quick ninth inning to earn the save.
The Bombers will wrap up their season opening homestand tonight as they begin a home-and-home series with the Kalamazoo Growlers. The Beer Bears come to town after winning both contests at Homer Stryker Field over the Rockford Rivets to open the season.
Tonight's game at C.O. Brown Stadium begins at 7:05pm! It's also Thirsty Thursday at the ballpark, with $2 Labatt all night!
