After a three-game week to begin the 2018-2019 hockey season, the Western Michigan Broncos return to the ice this weekend against one of the top teams in the Big Ten conference.

The 19th ranked Broncos (down one spot from last week) will battle the 11th ranked Michigan Wolverines this weekend in non-conference play. It's the first time these two squads have seen each other since the Great Lakes Invitational in 2013, it's one and only year it was held at Comerica Park.

The two teams will play a home-and-home series with the Friday contest in Ann Arbor at 7:30pm. Saturday's contest is in Kalamazoo at 7:05pm. It will be the Maize and Blue's first appearance at Lawson Ice Arena since the former Central Collegiate Hockey Association's (CCHA) quarterfinals in March of 2013.

Broncos head coach Andy Murray commented on the team's efforts last week, following a loss to 17th ranked Bowling Green to open the season before sweeping Ferris State last weekend.

In 35 years of Bronco hockey, Western is 33-71-10 against Michigan. The Broncos have had most of their success in the 1980s against the Wolverines, going 19-16-3. The Brown and Gold own a 7-6 record over Michigan in this decade.

If you want to visit legendary Yost Ice Arena in Ann Arbor Friday night, not too many tickets are left for game.

Tickets for Saturday's game are going quick. It's the last home game of October for the Broncos as they hit the road against Bowling Green and opening National Collegiate Hockey Conference play at Denver. They return home to host Omaha November 9th and 10th. Check out the Broncos schedule here!
