The Calhoun County Land Bank Authority has announced that the old Calhoun County Jail is set to be demolished soon.

In a release, Lank Bank Chairperson Christine Schauer says that the goal is to remove “an eyesore” from behind the Calhoun County Building in Marshall, in a way that "minimizes the impact on the surrounding community."

The Land Bank says that crews will be on site starting October 10, with work set to start October 17. Demolition is expected to wrap up in late November.

The building along Green St. housed the Sheriff’s Office until 1994, and continued to host minimal administrative operations until 2013.
